Neighborhood Ballet Studio Policies

  • Age Policy

Age and school grade are helpful parameters for deciding levels, but each child and family situation is unique. If there is an issue with class times and placement for your child, please email info@theneighborhoodballet.com to determine the best solution for your child and your family.

  • Attendance

Students are expected to attend their classes on a regular basis. There are no make-up classes. Regular attendance is necessary in order to advance through the levels of study. If students desire to perform in the recital, absences leading up to the performance are highly discouraged. Refunds are not given for missed classes.

  • Class Calendar & Severe Weather

Unless otherwise noted, Neighborhood Ballet will follow the Atlanta Public School’s (APS) calendar. View our season calendar HERE! In the case of inclement weather, Neighborhood Ballet will close when Atlanta Public Schools close. Please check our Facebook Page prior to coming to class when in doubt of weather cancellations. We do not offer makeup classes for inclement weather closings. We will continue to follow the APS calendar for school closings for breaks, inclement weather, and emergency circumstances.

  • Class Cancelations

Neighborhood Ballet reserves the right to cancel classes due to low enrollment. Enrolled families will be contacted to discuss alternative options.

  • Discontinuance

A seven (7) day written notice is required to discontinue classes. Please email info@theneighborhoodballet.com to withdraw your dancer.

Refunds are not given for missed classes, cancelled classes, or withdrawals. All tuition paid is non-refundable, but future tuition installments may be cancelled if a written withdrawal request is submitted 7 days prior to the first of the month.

    Credits, when applicable, are non-transferable.

  • Dress Code

At Neighborhood Ballet, we believe that wearing studio uniforms give students a sense of belonging to our family as well as creating an identity for our studio in the greater community. Dressing appropriately gives dancers confidence and helps our teachers better see body lines so they can help their students become the best dancer they be! Our Uniform Supply List can be found HERE!

  • Drop off & Pick Up

Students should remain in the lobby and supervised until the teacher indicates that it is time for the students to enter the studio. Parents of dancers in the Early Childhood Division (Creative Movement, Pre Ballet) should remain with their children in the lobby until class begins. Students should remain in the lobby until their parent or guardian arrives. Parents should wait outside the front door and dancers will be dismissed one by one. Our staff will prioritize the safety of our dancers during class dismissal and class check-in. We will address all other matters once our dancers are safely in class or with a parent/caregiver.

  • Health & Wellness

We ask that parents keep their dancers at home if they are actively sick, running a fever, and/or vomiting. Please ensure your child is symptom free for at least 24 hours before returning to the studio. All dancers and staff members must wash their hands before entering the studio.

  • Late Pick Up Policy

If caregivers are late picking up their dancers once classes have concluded, they will be charged a fee. Beginning 15 minutes after class or rehearsal, there will be a $15 charge for every 15 minutes your child is in our care until they are picked up. This charge will be recorded by the studio manager or assistant and added to your account. Please call ahead if you anticipate being late for pickup.

  • Level Advancement

Placement will depend on age, ability, dance experience, and class size.

  • Lost & Found

Lost items will be held for two weeks. Items left unclaimed after that time will be donated. We highly recommend that all clothing/shoes have your dancer’s name written on them so that we may return the items promptly.

  • Performance Opportunities

Performing is an integral part of a student’s education and teaches the process of learning how to rehearse and prepare repertoire. Students will have the opportunity to perform during our May recital. Please visit here for more information on performance opportunities. Performance and recital fees are non-refundable. Once costumes have been ordered and distributed, they cannot be returned. Credits may be issued on a case by case basis should a dancer be unable to perform.

  • Punctuality

It is important that students arrive on time and are ready to dance at their scheduled class time. We request that children are taken to the toilet before their class commences to avoid disruption to the classes. No student should arrive more than 10 minutes before the beginning of class. Your child should be picked up directly after class. If you are late picking up your child, you will be subject to additional charges. Please refer to our Late Pick Up Policy for more information.

  • Reception Area Etiquette

Our staff will assist with boutique and other customer service requests after all dancers’ class check-in/ class dismissal.

We ask that our reception area be considered a quiet and calm space. Loud voices and unsupervised children can lead to an environment that is disruptive to our dancers in the studio, to our staff who are talking with families at the desk and on the phone, and most importantly, to our students with sensitivities to sound. Each of our reception areas has cozy corner with children's picture books where kids can calmly read or work on an activity before class. We welcome siblings at our studio but if a child is having a rambunctious day - as we all do from time to time - our studios are in walkable areas, with playgrounds (Ormewood Church Playground) and/or greenspace (Oakland Cemetery) nearby.

  • Studio Mission

It is critical that all members of The Neighborhood Ballet team family - staff, faculty, parents, and students share an aligned vision, purpose, and philosophy that encompasses everything we do both in and outside of our classes. We expect behavior and communication to be in a kind, thoughtful, and respectful manner at all times. Our goal is to create a positive and happy experience for all of our students and their families, as well as our faculty and staff, and we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and positive environment.

  • Tuition Policy

To enroll into classes, a deposit (first month of tuition) and registration fee are required. All tuition paid is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Families with multiple children enrolled will receive a 3% discount off of the tuition for each child. Tuition covers costs of classes only and does not cover costs for performance fees, costume fees, dance portraits, etc. Tuition is based on a 10-month season and is not prorated by the number of weeks in a month: for example, months with 5 weeks or months with only 3 weeks have the same monthly charge.

Tuition is charged via Auto-pay on the 1st of each month. Failed auto-payments will immediately receive a reminder so that parents may update their preferred method of payment on their Parent Portal account and make payment. If tuition is not paid by the 5th of the month, there will be an automatic $10.00 late charge added to your account. If tuition is not paid by the 15th of the month, an additional $25 late fee will be added to your account. Students who fall two months behind on payments will not be allowed to take class until the account is paid in full, including late fees. Families with any outstanding balance 60 days past due will be automatically dropped from classes.

Summer camps and intensive must be paid in full upon enrollment.

Please email info@theneighborhoodballet.com with any questions or concerns.
