Find Your Child's Dance Match: A Parent's Guide
With so many class options at NB, we thought it would be fun to formulate a quiz to help you assess which dance style is a fit for your child!
All classes are open to all dancers and we believe your kiddos should go after what they’re most interested in, but this quiz may help you better understand our class offerings and each style!
Through this quiz, we will explore energy levels, music preferences, attention span, expression, social preferences, and preferred setting. Take note of your responses to evaluate your result at the end!

What Your Answers Reveal
Predominantly A Responses
Your child shows natural alignment with dynamic, expressive styles that channel their energy through rhythm and movement variety:
Hip-Hop: Combines athletic movement with self-expression and rhythm
Jazz: Offers technical training with contemporary music and stylistic freedom
Tap: Transforms movement into percussion, appealing to musically-minded children
AcroDance: Blends gymnastics and dance, perfect for physically adventurous children
Research from developmental psychology suggests children with this movement profile develop enhanced spatial awareness and emotional expression when matched with these dance forms.
Predominantly B Responses
Your child shows natural alignment with structured, precise styles that reward attention to detail:
Ballet: Builds exceptional body awareness through disciplined movement vocabulary
Contemporary: Combines technical foundation with emotional depth
Lyrical: Emphasizes storytelling through graceful, flowing movement
Studies show children with these tendencies often develop enhanced focus and proprioception (body awareness) through these dance forms.
Predominantly C Responses
Your child shows versatile tendencies that would benefit from:
Combination classes (Ballet/Tap, Jazz/Hip-Hop)
Modern dance with its blend of structure and freedom
Musical theater combining multiple movement styles with storytelling
The American Academy of Pediatrics notes that adaptable children often thrive with varied movement experiences that develop multiple skill sets simultaneously.
